Our multimedia portfolio tasks are still up for change at this point due to the uncertainty of what is happening with the film project our group is involved in. Although, in this blog post I will discuss our timeline as if we are sticking to the standard project brief (1 jingle done individually and 1 done as a group).
For the solo jingle, I have chosen to recreate sound for the vegemite ad released on youtube recently. For this project, I will be writing a catchy jingle, played on acoustic guitar. At this stage I have all the music written and arranged, all that needs to be done for the music is to be recorded and mixed. This will be done by the end of week 10.
As for foley sounds in the ad, I plan on replicating the sound FX as closely as possible to the original, these will be sourced online mainly and put into sync with the video clip. I plan to have the vegemite ad/jingle recorded, sourced and mixed ready for submission by the end of week 11 so that I am able to devote a large majority of my time to the film we are working on in collaboration with the film students.
For the group jingle, we will be replicating the sound to go with the Dicks Sporting Goods ad “The Table”. For this, we plan to have an acoustic guitar solo piece with foley added in to replicate and add effect to what is happening in the ad. The inspiration for the music is of a Bob Dylan nature.
An overall timeline for the multimedia project looks like this:
Week 10 - Have all jingles, both individual and group work written and begun recording.
Week 11 - Have all jingles recorded and mixed ready for submission, in order to dedicate as
much time as possible to the film we are working with. Begin recording foley for the film.
Week 12 - Well underway recording foley for film, begin syncing up to video and mixing as we go. Have everything ready for submission/handoff by the end of the week.
A good general plan here. Would be good to itemise the specific recording sessions needed to get all your assets recorded, any mixing sessions identified, etc. Also, it would be good to include a link to your project Trello page here.
