Documentary - Conclusion

We have just finished up working on our documentary, for our post-production intensive. Our group ended up working on a different project to what is typically done in studio 3. We worked on a student film that was currently being made. This had both its perks and downfalls.

One perk of doing this was that we gained further experience in dealing face to face with clientele. Having good people skills when working in post production is crucial in nailing the brief, you have to be in frequent contact with the director and make sure that your work is satisfying their wants and desires in order to say that you have done your best job at the end of the day.

The only downfall was that this was not a very challenging film to work on, only coming in at 5 minutes and not having too many excruciating problems, we were able to make quick work of the documentary.

In terms of adding to the narrative I feel that we did a good job of using motorcycle sounds to enhance the film and entice the viewer into the film right from the very first frame. Having movement and variation during this scene was another crucial element in making the montage work well.

The feedback we received from the director was not at all what we were expecting, the group was very happy with the mix that we put forward, but too our surprise the director was not happy with our work. In the end it didn't have too grave of an effect on our outcome as we took his feedback and made some revisions to the mix and he was happy with it in the end. This was yet another learning curve that we hit during the process of the film and one that I suspect will prove useful in the future.
