Darkness Called... and we answered...

Overall I feel that our attempt at producing the sound for Darkness Calls was a success. We ended up spending a lot of time out of class on the project and it paid dividends as seen by our amount of foley and atmos recording.

Our approach to the sound was to have as much tension building sound leading up to where Amber becomes possessed by the phone demon and the film comes to an end where Amber smashes Michaels head in.

The thing that really ended up making our sound design good, was the music. There was a lot of scary sounds going on that added to the tension of the film. Things such as vocal throws and scary string sounds added to the narrative of the film and brought out the emotion of the characters within it.

We headed into the studio again on Friday to fix up the last few mix problems that we didn't get to by the end of Wednesday. Most of this was dialogue level and sync. We also changed the atmos and mixed it louder in the final product.

By the end of our final session, everyone in the group was satisfied that we had done enough to make the film as good as it could be.
